Abstract (EN)
Our thesis, Hz. It is about how the issue of Muhammad's illiteracy is handled in contemporary commentaries, especially in the case of Muhammad Abid al-Jabiri. Hz. The issue of Muhammad's illiteracy has been addressed by commentators since the classical period. When the commentaries of this period are examined, Hz. The meaning of the concept in the case of Muhammad is that he was not literate. When the general views of the commentators are examined, in parallel with the existing meanings in the verses and dictionaries, Hz. It seems that there are some different meanings other than Muhammad's literacy: "The Arab community to whom no revelation or prophet had been sent before and the first addressee of the Quran"; "Any society/nation that has not been sent a divine book and has not received revelation"; We also encounter some different meanings such as "the way the People of the Book define people who are not among them." The general opinion of commentators in the contemporary period is that Hz. It is said that Muhammad could not read or write. However, the only commentator who does not hold this view is Muhammad Âbid al-Câbirî. He examined in detail the views put forward before him and Hz. He concluded that Muhammad was not illiterate.
