The sense of realism in modern Türkish Painting Art (1940-1970)and the reflection on the students who are studying at department of fine arts, department of art teaching

With this research, 4th Grade students of Main Art Studio Gazi University, Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts, Department of Arts Teaching, we tried to determine what extent they can express their feelings and thoughts about the social, economic, cultural and environmental problems of the society they are living through with their knowledge of the sense of ?Social Realism? in Turkish Painting Art by means of painting.Research was performed in the second period of 2011-2012 Academic year, with the Main Art Studio 4th Grade students of Gazi University, Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts, Department of Arts Teaching. The works which came out with this study performed by 20 students at total formed the data of the research.Before starting the application the literature was scanned and the necessary preparations were done! Group of 20 students who participated in the study,were divided into two groups with 10 people. For each group, description of the subject about The Sense of Social Realism was told, visual materials about the subject were shown. Afterwards, the students were asked to search about the subject and draw a suitable painting according to the consept of art sense. The paintings, drawn by the students were evaluated by art experts.As a result of the evaluations, it was seen that the students created suitable works in accordance with the concept of art in terms of colour, shape and expressing. It was also observed that the drawn pictures were serving to highlight, social, economic, cultural and environmental problems of the society they are living and succesful to take the people?s attention to the subject.Key Words: Turkish Painting Art, Realism, Society, Social Realism
