Özet (EN)

ABSTRACT When the first surrealistic paper published in 1924, scenery and figurative trends were dominant in Turkish painting. Previously, while these trends were reflecting an impressionistic effect, afterwards they changed into linear and theoretical form. By the effect of nationalism conscious and urbanization fact, ordinary human lives became prevalent by the subject. By the 1950s, by the effect of external relationships we witnessed that the increase of painting work. By the 1970s, surrealistic and indirectly imaginary fantastic painting became prevalent in Turkish art. The number of Turkish artists working in the direction of surrealistic movement that was appeared in the West is very small. There are several reasons for this. However Turkish artists are not ready for such an artistic trend both mentally and intellectually and pictorially which is required for this movement, actual determinant is that the Turkish artist approaches to the subject by the values which were produced by the East-Islam culture and life style. The marks of the East-Islam culture and life style have been found even if they are the artists who produced surrealistic works. By the 1980, Turkey which has a new transformation, entered into a postmodern process because of the fast improvement on the mass communication tools. It's strange that by the 1980, the artists drawing imaginary and fantastic became prevalent and the artists from young generation started to concern with it. Certainly, like in the world, in Turkey, the reason for this is that by the post-modern understanding, the concepts like dream and fantasy started to be internal and Turkey started to interrogate rational world view values newly.
