Abstract (EN)

While Özengen instrument education forms the basis of music education, it also provides important contributions to the psychomotor development of children. In recent years, especially municipalities have been carrying out intensive and effective studies on this issue. This research that we conducted in order to examine the relationship between the aims and results of the aspiring music education, which is based on talent and given without any preconditions, in addition, so as to examine the relationship between the reasons for the orientation of the children participating in the courses and their musical abilities, was conducted on 152 children aged 7-14 who attended instrument courses in Gaziantep Şehitkamil Art Center. The structured interview form developed by the researcher was used to determine the reasons for the children's orientation to the courses, and the Anadolu University Musical Perception Test (AMAT) was used to determine their musical abilities. Normality analysis was performed to examine the distribution of data in the interview form with AMAT test scores. Independent Sample T-Test was used for pairwise comparisons, and One-Way ANOVA test was used for multiple comparisons. The data obtained from the research were analyzed using the SPSS 22 program and the level of significance was determined as p<0.05.It was seen that the musical perception levels of the participants were good and moderate according to their AMAT test scores, but their musical perception levels were affected by their gender and the instrument they played. It has been determined that there is a significant relationship between the musical perception levels of the students and their instrument preferences, parental support and previous instrument playing status, and there is no significant relationship between the musical perception status and parental behaviors, the types of music they listen to, their participation in social activities and the variable of living with the family.
