Behaviours of employed and unemployed women regarding the utilization and management of family resources

This research was planned and administered with the aim of determining thebehaviours of women who are living in Mezitli Area of Mersin regarding theutilization and management of family resources. Achieved findings are measured andexplained depending on the independent variable (employment status of women).According to the findings of this research, women who participate in theresearch consists of 330 persons of whose 50 percent are employed and 50 percentare unemployed. 21,8 percent of women have middle school and 16,1 percent ofthem have university degree. 22,1 percent of the families of women earn salarybetween 1.401-1.700 YTL.With respect to the employment status, % 83,6 percent of the women havenever encountered problems about utilization of earnings (p<0,05). Decision onsalary utilization is given by 73,6 percent of the women together with their husbands.Areas which earnings are spent on are respectively purchasing food, houseexpenditure and house management expences.Most of the women think that they (% 83,6) use their time efficiently. Therate among the employed women is % 77 while it?s % 90,3 among the unemployedones. (p<0,05). Women (% 31,8) watch television in their spare time.In terms of physical energy usage, 73 percent of women always use the toolsfacilating their work. The main reasons of the women?s exhaustion are, not to givethemselves a rest by enough intervals, having less knowledge and skills concernedwith their work.Women?s resource utilization and administration behaviours in the varyingsocial life are laid off and advanced some suggestions by this research.Key Words: Woman, Employed-Unemployed Women, Family Resource
