Abstract (EN)

Objective of this study is to analyse the anxiety levels of a group of employed and unemployed women work in various fields, the determination of the ways to deal with stress and the connection with socio-demographic factors. In this search which is a scanning model, Beck anxiety scale, coping with stress scale and a personal information form prepared by the researcher are used. The exemplar of this research is presented from 61 unemployed and 92 employed in total 153 women drawn randomly in İstanbul city.According to the discoveries from the study anxiety levels of the individuals are in medium level and they commonly use problem solving process to cope with stress. On the other hand it is found that people with high anxiety more commonly use avoiding process to cope with stress. A significant difference is not found in the comparison made between unemployed and employed women to see their anxiety levels and styles to cope with stress. In conclusion, a connection between anxiety level and styles used to cope with stress is found. And the points of avoiding lower scale increased as the anxiety rose while the points of problem solving lower scale increased as the anxiety decreased. Key Words : Anxiety, Stress.
