Abstract (EN)
This study aims to explore the factors affecting employee satisfaction. The dataset for the study included 208 Social Security Institution (SSI) employees working in Istanbul. Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire was used as a survey form. Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis H, ANOVA post-hoc Tamhane T2 test, correlation, and regression analyses were used to analyze the data. The regression analysis results showed that the variety of skills, task significance, supervisory behaviors, autonomy, wage, relationship with co-workers and promotion were significant predictors of employee satisfaction, respectively. However, appreciation did not predict general dimension of employee satisfaction. These predictors accounted for 80,2 percent of the variance. The most crucial predictor of the intrinsic satisfaction was the variety of skills while supervisory behavior and wage were two primary predictors on the extrinsic satisfaction. Secondly, the results of correlation analyses indicated that employee satisfaction was positively and significantly correlated with age, having children, employment status of spouse and title. However, it was negatively and significantly related to education level and gender. That is to say, the satisfaction level of women employees is lower than men's satisfaction. As the level of education increases, employee satisfaction decreases. Finally, the ANOVA analyses showed that the intrinsic, extrinsic and general dimensions of employee satisfaction differed significantly by gender, employment status of spouse, education level, title, seniority and branch office. According to the findings, the intrinsic satisfaction differed significantly by age and having children, as well. Keywords: satisfaction, employee satisfaction, job satisfaction, MSQ, SSI.
