Abstract (EN)

As in every area of society, women's efforts to exist and their success are also evident in working life. Traditional social structure and gender discrimination create obstacles in women's working lives in many ways. Some of these obstacles are caused by fellow women. Other working women in executive roles face challenges such as Queen Bee Syndrome. The aim of this study is to discuss in detail queen bee therapy, one of the difficulties encountered in the work option, and the relationship between work-related emotional collapse and this syndrome. The research was conducted with 173 female employees across Türkiye between April and July 2013. Study data was obtained online via web-based survey application. "Personal Data Form", "Queen Bee Syndrome Scale" and "Work-Related Emotional Exhaustion Scale" were used as data collection tools. The data were evaluated in the SPSS 22 PACKET program. As a result of the analysis of the study data, it was found that queen bee syndrome is present in different sectors and work-related emotional exhaustion increases in women working with managers showing queen bee syndrome. Regression analysis also revealed that queen bee syndrome has an effect on work-related emotional exhaustion. The existence of Queen Bee syndrome should be investigated in organizations, and initiatives should be implemented for both management employees and other employees to support female employees who are exposed and to prevent the syndrome.
