Workplace wellness expectations: A research on information technology department employees of a private bank

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to measure and understand whether there are significant differences in the demographic characteristics of workplace wellness expectancy levels of employees according to gender, marital status, working years at the institution and education level. Previous studies indicates that, the most common workplace wellness application areas are; eating healthy, physical activity, stress management and smoking cessation. With these areas and the preferences of the applications time, duration and individual or group choice, the survey had 7 main topics and total of 23 questions. The survey of this study applied to the employees of a private bank information technology department, to investigate the expectation levels of the employees. The survey was conducted with 313 out of 509 people working in different positions. In order to determine the level of validity of the expectation scale, 230 participants were reached in pilot study at the first stage. As a result of the pilot study with 230 participants, there was no need to remove the substance from the scale when the item analyzes of the expectation levels were made. As a result of the research, it has become clear that the general expectation level of employees' workplace wellness is high. At the same time for the 7 main topics determined, significant differences were found according to the demographic characteristics of the employees' expectation levels.
