Abstract (EN)

In this study, the relationship between quality of work life and work life balance is discussed in terms of the samples taken from Mechanical, Industrial and Mechatronics engineers registered in the Izmir branch of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers. The study also sought to determine whether engineers' perceptions of quality of work life and work life balance differed according to their demographic characteristics (age, sex, marital status, experience and occupation). A survey of 37 questions was used in this research, which was based on three scales, one being the quality of work life and the other is about work-life balance. The first of the scales used in the questionnaire is the 16-item quality of work life scale developed by Sirgy, et al. (2001) and adapted to Turkish by Taşdemir-Afşar (2011). The second one is developed by Netemeyer et al. (1996) and adapted to Turkish by Efeoğlu (2006). Moreover, the work life balance is measured by 10-item scale. Concerning the third one, it relates to an 11-item work life balance scale developed by Apaydın (2011). It was examined in the research whether there was a link between quality of work life and work life balance. As a result of the analyzes, it was concluded that a significant relationship is found between the perception of work life balance and the quality of work life. Besides, the perception of work life balance affects the quality of work life. On the other hand, according to the demographic characteristics of the study, it was found that there was no difference between the perceived quality of work life and work life balance. Keywords: Quality of Work Life, Work Life Balance.
