A research on the effects of work over married women in terms of depression, anxiety and on life satisfaction

Abstract (EN)
In this research, it is aimed to examine effects of working on married women in the aspects of depression, anxiety and life satisfaction. The population consist of 140 married women who are randomly choosen in Istanbul. 70 of them are women employees (working women) and 70 of them are unemployed women (non working women). Unemployed (non-working) women are the control group of the research. Personal Information Form, Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory and Diener Life Satisfaction Scale are applied to subjects. According to the average results that are obtained from working women group, the group is not depressed, has mild anxiety and life satisfaction level of group is in mid level. On the other hand according to the average results that are obtained from control group, it is determined that non-working women have mild symptoms of depression and that group has mild anxiety and life satisfaction level of group has been observed in mid level (moderate). The answers to questions that are posed (asked) to participant show that, socio-demographic factors such as age, number of children that she has, educational background, the organization where she works, her occupation and daily working hours do not engender major influences on life satisfaction level. Our research indicates that when the scores that obtained from Beck Depression Inventory increase, life satisfaction scale scores significantly decrease for both employed and unemployed women(p<0.05). Similarly when the scores that obtained from Beck Anxiety Inventory increase, life satisfaction scale scores significantly decrease for both employed and unemployed women(p<0.05). On the other hand when correlation between depression level and anxiety level is analyzed, it is seen that as Beck Anxiety Inventory scores increase, Beck Depression Inventory scores also increase significantly. In conclusion; it was found that on women employees, there are significant relations between anxiety, depression and life satisfaction. Key words :Anxiety, depression, life satisfaction.
