Abstract (EN)

Coastal regions, which harbor soil, air and water with related flora and fauna, have changed over the past years. However these unplanned changes have resulted in coastal problems in terms of ecology, settlement, trade, industry, transportation and recreation.Coastal problems are to a significant extent in developing countries such as Turkey and developed countries. However, unlike developed countries, principles of coast protection, coastal reviving, coastal development, coastal transformation and renewing have not been formed on constitutional and administrative level in our country. Therefore coastlines of cities are facing intensive and unconscious uses.In this study, the principles of coats designing during the redesigning of the coast were defined and re-projecting studies on coasts were dealt with. Constitutions and legislations on coasts were examined and necessary amendments were discussed.Coastline of the New and Old Cordon of Çanakkale city was chosen as the study area. General features of the study and surrounding area along with environmental and ecological values, which could be crucial in city coast designing, were determined.Assessment on the aims and designing issues of the re-designing of the coastline of the New and Old Cordon and how these issues should be implemented in the future were made and suggestions on the problems of coastal area were proposed.
