Abstract (EN)
Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the relation ship between clinical and hematological data and disease prognosis in dogs naturally in fected with Canine Parvovirus 2. Material and Methods: The animal material of the study consisted of 50 dogs with parvoviral enteritis of different breeds, ages and genders brought to Aydın Yaprak Veterinary Clinic and other free veterinary clinics in Aydın province. Sick animals were identified with a rapid test kit and general examination findings were recorded. They were then evaluated hematologically and treated. Recovery and mortality rates were determined by day during the treatment period. All the sefindings were recorded. Results: 76% of the dogs responded to treatment and recovered. The average age at which dogs caught the disease was determined to be 4.34 months. 68% of the dogs were male and 32% were female. 56% of the dogs were purebred and 44% were mixed breed. Almost all of the cases occurred in the summer and fall months. All of the dogs had loss of appetite, pale conjunctiva, varying degrees of dehydration, decreased body condition and hemorrhagic diarrhea. The average body temperature of the dogs was 38,2°C. The average WBC value was determined as 7.46, Lymphocyte as 18.30%, Monocyte as 9.16%, RBC as 6.18, HGB as 13.29, HCT as 38.9, PLT as 393.93, RDW as 16.01%, MCV as 62.07, and MCHC as 354.28. Conclusion: Parvoviral enteritis is a highly contagious and fatal disease for puppies. It presents with severe clinical findings and hematological leukopenia.
