The examination of the websites of the primary schools depending on Çankaya County Directorate of Education from the aspect of graphic design principles and preparation of example website design

The basic purpose of this study is the examination of the primary school websitesfrom the aspect of graphic design principles and usability. It is aimed to find out ananswer to the question of ?How should a primary school website be? by the evaluation ofthe data obtained as a result of the examination. In this context it is also aimed to form upan appropriate website design from the aspects of graphic design principles and usabilityas a result of the information obtained.The literature about the topic is examined and the information gathered fromthe interviews with the specialists were used under scanning model for the research. Ascale was developed to examine the primary school websites upon certain criteria withthe opinions of specialists and the work of reliability-validty study was carried out. Thereviews of the sites examined were explained with theoretical information and examplesin the conceptual part of the study. In the results section, the statistical information andcomments which are gathered with the scan made by the help of the scale designed forprimary school websites are given in. In the conclusion and recommandations section,the general results and recommendations which are obtained as a result of the performedresearch are given in.As a result of the information gathered by application of ?The Primary SchoolsWeb Design Scale?;- The lack of the systematic studies about the standards in Turkey for the designingand development process of the primary school websites,- The problem of low quality design of most of the websites, despite the rapiddevelopment of technology- The lack of design by webmasters or designers and constant updating for thewebsites of most primary schools was identified.In addition, it is seen on the examined primary school websites that the sufficientimportance to usability criteria and content features is not granted.Official and private primary school websites were examined comperatively andthe observed differences in site designs were revealed.
