Abstract (EN)

In this study, the purpose is to determine the mechanical and physical properties of alluvial soils in the province district of Cankiri province, which are weak in strength and might pose a threat to structures built on them. In the study, field and laboratory studies conducted in the study area provided by Cankiri Municipality were used as a basis for determining the required ground strengthening works to be carried out before any future building construction is to be undertaken on this soil type, and to identify the appropriate areas. In the area of investigation, 56 drilling operations were discovered, each one conducted at a depth of 10-13 meters, on 21 lots/parcels. The study incorporates results of the Standard Penetration Test performed according to international standards, as well as laboratory test results obtained from disturbed and undisturbed samples taken from drillings. Following are the physical and mechanical characteristics of the study area. Approximately 60.5% of the soil in Cankiri province consists of fine materials (clay and silt), 28.8% of it is sand, and 11.5% of it is gravel. For Cankiri province, specified average minimum and maximum ꙋn values are 17.2 kN/m2 and 18.8 kN/m2, respectively. Parameter values to be specified later are Bugdaypazari and Abdulhalik neighborhoods, respectively. In both neighborhoods, effective slip resistance angle and slip resistance angle were found to be very similar, measured at 30 ° and 33.4 ° respectively, undrained modulus of elasticity was 21.4 MN/m2 and 30 MN/m2, drained modulus of elasticity was 13.6 MN/m2 and 20 MN/m2, undrained shear strength was 43.8 kPa and 52.2 kPa, and volumetric compression coefficients were 0.18 MPa and 0.14 MPa.
