The moss (MUSCI) flora in the urban area of Çankırı and surroundings

Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine moss flora at city center and surroundings of Çankırı. The study area was divided into five subareas based on effect of human activities and the mosses were collected between 2013 and 2014. As a result of the identification of the mosses, 66 taxa belonging to 27 genera and 10 families were determined. Eleven taxa from Çankırı province and one taxa from A2 grid square were reported for the first time. In terms of taxa number, the richest five families are Pottiaceae (28), Brachytheciaceae (8), Grimmiaceae (7), Orthotrichaceae (7) and Bryaceae (5), respectively. The ratio of the mentioned families to the total taxa in the study area is 83,3%. The richest species in terms of taxa number are; Tortula (8), Orthotrichum (7), Syntrichia (7), Grimmia (6), and Bryum (5). While acrocarpous taxa (52) represent 78,8% of the whole flora, the ratio of pleurocarpous ones (14) is 21,2%. The most common life form among the taxa is Tf seen on 29 taxa. Cu and Mr, each of them with 13 taxa, follow Tf. Tuft is represented with eight taxa, Ms and Ts also with one. The greatest number of mosses occurred on soils, Ceratodon purpureus and Syntrichia ruralis were the common mosses on this substrate. Human made substrata followed soils in moss abundance and Tortula muralis was the principal moss on these subsrata. Rock and tree surfaces came after soil substrata, respectively. Grimmia tichophylla was the dominant species on the rock surfaces and Orthotrichum diaphanum on the tree surfaces. Ceratodon purpureus occurred in (23), Syntrichia ruralis (17), Grimmia trichophylla and Bryum argenteum (11), Tortula subulata in (10) different localities. Of the 235 taxa, 104 ( % 44,2) ones have sporophytes and seven pleurocarpous and 97 acrocarpous were found in these mosses. Tortula muralis, Funaria hygrometrica, Grimmia trichophylla, Tortula subulata, Orthotrichum diaphanum, and Tortula inermis were the mosses with maximum sporophytes. 45 of 235 taxa determined from the study area were correlated with the categorical variables at 0,05 signifiance level.
