Abstract (EN)
Damage occurred in one of the fills of the Çatalan drinking water transmission line near the Topalak village of Karaisali town, Adana due to settlement of the fill in 2006. Consequently, water outage occurred in Seyhan, a central town of Adana, for three days.To solve the problem necessary investigations were made and 6-15m deep three holes to represent the fill were drilled. From these drillings and the investigation of the samples taken from local outcrops, some information is gained.In this study, geological and geotechnical characteristics of the fill material and the bedrock have been determined and appropriateness of pile foundation the damaged region was investigated.
