Crisis zones in the Commonwealth of Independent States in the context of conflict resolution theory: Cremia and Transnistria

The Crimean problem and Transdniester problem that took place in the territory of the Commonwealth of Independent States are studied in this thesis in the context of Conflict Resolution Theory. Within this framework, the conflict process that took place in Crimea in 2013 was discussed. Trandyesteria was another region that embarked on Independence activities after the dissolution of the USSR in 1990. The conflict process has taken place in both regions, and the hot conflicts in the region have ended and the process of peace negotiations has begun. Ukraine has become a target over the Crimean problem and Moldova has also become a target over Transdiester. Russia pursues expansionist policy under the name Eurasianism. Russia has direct or indirect influence in these two regions. The strategies for intervening and staying there are aimed at these regions through ethnic Russians. In the past, demographic structures were changed in both Crimea and Transdnyester regions under the name of deportations and forced settlements. There have been "de facto" declarations of independence in the two regions. These two examples are parallel to each other in the event. In order to analyze this process are discussed the basic concepts and elements of Conflict Resolution Theory and types of conflict, non-violent conflicts, violent conflicts, Classification of armed War, conflict at individuals level, conflict at groups level, conflict at States level. During the conflict time in Crimea the process and flow of Conflict Resolution Theory has been applied to case studies. Russia argues that Crimea is part of its own and that it not open to dispute. In the process of Transdinyester conflict, initiatives and negotiations are continuing. If both sides continue to win-win method in the negotiation process, it can be said that the solution may be in a near future.
