Cedrus Libani A. rich (cedar) pollen characteristics

In this study, the characteristics of germination, pollen tube development,nutritional environment, temperature and incubation periods of the pollencollected from cedar seed yard 4 clone on Eskişehir road with national recordnumber 114 and from an old cedar tree near the yard between the years 2004and 2006. Pollen germinations have been carried out in the nutritionalenvironments of Brewbaker and Kwack, MS and %2 agar + %5 sukrose+33 0C, dark environment and 3-day incubation period have been used at MSand %2 agar + %5 sukrose nutritional environments.Among the pollen specimens of 2005, while the germination percentages were%84,77 at the clone numbered 11342, % 81,23 at the clone numbered 11344, %57,69 at the clone numbered 11345 and %78,78 at control tree, it was found tobe % 40,52 at the clone numbered 11351.It was also found to be %49,95 for the pollens at the clone numbered 11351 ofthe year 2004 and kept at +3 0C for three months. It was observed that, thegermination was %33,88 on the 30th day and %24,22 on the 195th day fort hepollens of the year 2005 from the clone numbered 11351 and kept at roomtemperature. In addition, the germination was found to be %76,30 at the clonenumbered 11342 in %2 agar + %5 nutritional environment with sukrose, at+33 0C, in darkness with three-day incubation period.It was detected that the pollens of the year 2004 at the clone numbered 11351which were kept at +3 0C for 13 months extended pollen tubes 545 µm onaverage at the end of the third day, whereas those of the year 2005 of the sameclone extended pollen tubes 434 µm at the end of the third day.In the pollen samples of the year 2005 at the clone numbered 11351, lowermeasurements of the pollen tubes (434 µm) and germination percentages(% 40,52) of the year 2005 when compared to the year 2004 was attributed tothe fact that the year 2005 was a year of weak seeds.
