Investigation for vibration characteristics of wire rope vibration isolators

Abstract (EN)

as sudden shock, vibration, impact, explosion, etc. for the protection of sensitive and high-tech products, is generally used in many sectors including defense and aerospace industry. Vibration isolators are produced by mounting various diameters, winding and material steel wires in various shapes in a symmetrical, helical or different form by twisting. In this study, the effect of material and section geometry for wire rope vibration isolators on the vibration characteristics is investigated experimentally. For this purpose, two types of wire rope vibration isolator model were designed. The effect of rope raw material for first model and the rope section geometry for second model on the vibration characteristics were examined experimentally. Nuflex, stainless and galvanized rope were preferred for Material effect study. In the workshop environment, 3 different wire rope vibration isolator models were designed and produced with nuflex, stainless steel and galvenized steel materials. In the second type of rope models, 3 smaller wire rope vibration isolator models with 7x7, 1x19 and 7x19 dimensions were designed and manufactured in laboratory. The rope diameters is 3mm for nuflex, stainless and galvanized steel rope vibration isolator and 2 mm for 7x7, 1x19 ve 7x19. Load-displacement responses were obtained by pulling, cutting and rolling tests under different speed and preload conditions of the produced wire rope vibration isolator models. After rigidity tests. Dynamic vibration tests were performed after rigidity tests using shock system and accelerometers. Natural frequencies, insulation characteristics, frequency and acceleration time responses and damping ratios were obtained for each wire rope vibration isolator model. As a result of the studies, it was observed that the rope material and rope section geometry had a significant effect on the vibration characteristics.
