Abstract (EN)
Characterization of by-products is crucial for primary and secondary steel producers. The chemical and mineralogical determination of the slags have been evaluated within the scope of characterization methods in this study. The content of converter (BOF) slags consists of phases such as CaO, MgO, MnO in basic oxide structure and SiO2 and Fe-oxides in acidic oxide structure. It has been determined that the Fe structure in converter slag is generally in the form of Fe2O3 and Fe3O4. It has been observed that the general structure of ladle furnace (LF) slags is in the form of calcium aluminate, and the minor phases such as FeO and MnO are less than 5% in the structure. All characterization processes performed in this study were compared and reported in detail.
