Cerebral palsy: The effect on function of game education

Objective: Aim of this study is to determine the effect of game based motor activity program on gross motor function, physical fitness level, balance and functional independence level in children with cerebral palsy. Method: The research from cerebral palsy were diagnosed 6-10 years, gross motor function classification system (GMFCS) ranging from I-III, 19 (Game Based Motor Activity Group (OG) n = 9, the control group (CG) n = 10) were included children. The pre and post-test design was used in this study. In a 14-week program before and after evaluation, the presidential physical fitness test, timed up and go test , the single leg balance, GMFM, WeeFIM is used. Game based motor activity program which took 90 minutes was applied regularly to game group for 14 weeks and two days a week. Results: Istatistical analyses revealed that; in baseline measurement, participant had similar physical fitness level, balance skills, GMFM and WeeFIM score (p>.05). After 14 week period, there was group differences in abdominal strenght, subtitle E of GMFM, totally GMFM and self-care, WeeFIM totally score (p<.05). Conclusion: we can say that the game based motor activity program, it could be used in addition to physical theraphy and rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy.
