Effect of mobbing exposure on nursing care quality at surgical clinics nurses

Abstract (EN)

Object: In this study; the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mobbing living conditions on nursing care quality in nurses working in surgical clinics. Materials and Method: The study included nurses (n = 102) and inpatients (n = 114) working at Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital Surgical Clinics between 10 February and 30 November 2017. The research data were collected using the 'Nurse Promotion Form', 'Mobbing Perception Scale', 'Care Behavior Scale-24' and 'Patient Presentation and Nursing Care Assessment Questionnaire'. In the analysis of the data, frequency, percentage distribution, Independent Samples t, Kruskal Wallis, Mann-Whitney and Pearson Correlation analysis tests were used in SPSS 15.0 for Windows statistical analysis program. Findings: Nurses of the participating in the survey, 83.3% were female, 16.7% were male and 51.8% of the patients were women, 48.2% were male. It was determined that the male nurses had a higher mobbing perception compared to the females. As the years of professional work increase, the mobbing sense increases. The nurses who finds their care in inadequate had higher mobbing perception. As the mobbing perception of the nurses' Self-Promotion and Communication Facility Restrictions increased, the Assurance and respectful care behaviors were found to be negatively affected and also the mobbing perception of nurses increased in the field of Social Revenge attack, care behaviors related to Assurance, Respect and Affinity were found to be negatively affected. When the nursing care given was evaluated by patients and nurses, it was determined that the patients perceived the care better quality. Result: Nurses working in surgical clinics when the mobbing sensation is high some care behaviors were found to be negatively affected, it was found that the nursing care provided by the patients was more adequate than the nurses.
