Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of the addition of plastic wastes to HDF process is to improve the physical and mechanical properties of HDF panels such as dimensional stability, is disadvantage for some application area. Using plastic wastes in forest product industry as an additive material for alternative solution method for decreasing the environmental pollution. In this study, usibility of plastic wastes, which have various characteristics and considerably potential as an additive material for wood fibers, were searched in HDF production process. For this purpose, Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS), wastes, with different mixture ratios with wood fibers were used in HDF production process. They were mixed with already prepared glued beech and pine fibers in different amounts (25/75, 50/50, 75/25) which were provided by Kastamonu Integrated. The sizes of the manufactured boards are approximately 31x36x1,1 cm and averagely the density is around 0,8 g/cm3. The changes on density, dampness, water uptake, thickness swelling, elasticity modulus and bending strength of the produced fiber boards were examined. As a result of these; it is possible to easily say that: for some usage areas, the produced mixture can be used instead of 100 % wood fiber.
