Applying luster past recepies of Cevahirname-i Nizami's book with nowadays conditions

''Cevahir-Nâm'' or ''The Book of Gems" is the name given to the books written about precious stones, consisting of the combination of "Nâme"(letter; book) and ''jevahir'' the plural form of ''jevher''(jewelery). These books, often is about how precious stones have come to fruition, where they are, names of different types, the prices, how they will be protected, how to use for trapy and many other scientific or superstructure that reveal other beliefs about them. In some kind of these books, it is also seen the sections that giving information about mines, other stones that are not used as decorations, some items that are believed to be useful like stones and fragrances (perfumes). The Book of Cevahirname-i Nizami, written in 1195, by Muhammad Ibn Abul Berekat Joheri Nishaburi (Muhammad from Nishabur, the son of the jeweler Abul Barakat). The book was called Jevahirname-i Nizami (Nizami's book of Gems) because it was a gift to the minister of that period who's moniker was Nezami. In 2004, Miras-i Maktob publishing house in Iran published 2000 copies of Cevahirname-i Nizami's up-to-date edition. Latest edition of the book gained as a result of İraj Afshar's efforts and comparatively review of 5 manuscripts which are available today. The book consists of 4 separate articles (chapters). The first part is about mines and mineral compounds, second chapter is about jewels and stones, third part containing metals and the fourth chapter, ceramics chapter, is about mina and telavihat (colored glaze and luster pastes). Ceramic chapter, last part in Cevahirname-i Nizami which is discribing mina and telavihat, is what makes it an special book. This thesis under the title; ''Applying Luster Past Recepies of Cevahirname-i Nizami's Book With Nowadays Conditions'', presents some informations about resarches and examinations about ceramics chapter of Cevahirname-i Nizami's book also ceramics technology during that period. In addition analyzes were made on the luster paste recepies of that period and tried them in nowadays conditions with results found to be successful. It is thought that the book "Cevahirname-i Nizami" which written in 1195 but emerged in the new day will be a bridge between past and present thanks to the data obtained with this thesis and will also give a hint to the history of ceramic art and ceramic artists.
