Use of economic instrutment for environmental policies

Environmental policies of Turkey and European Union for reduction andcontrol of pollution are investigated in this study. Utilization and aims of economicinstruments, especially in the EU Member States, in order to achieve policyobjectives are evaluated. Utilization, strategies to improve their efficiency andsuggestions for solutions to facilitate these instruments in Turkey are set. Subsequentto introduction to categories and limitations of the economic instruments, economicinstruments are evaluated and assessed by means of employment distinctions of themin Turkey and EU Members. Employment basis of all the economic instruments inTurkey and developed countries are evaluated. Finally, economic instrumentsinvestigated in this study are evaluated for implementation and employment defectsand deficiencies in Turkey, and suggestions are set.Keywords: Environmental Policies, Policy Instrutment, Economic InstrutmentII
