Abstract (EN)
The use of environmental graphic design (EGD), wayfinding systems and navigation systems is almost a necessity to enable individuals to navigate and travel stress-free and problem-free, without getting lost in public environments and places. Passengers traveling especially in transportation centers where crowded groups of people are in constant flow, need guidance systems and signs to find their way easily. Therefore, examining the role of environmental graphic design systems, qualifications and competence levels in the guidance processes in public spaces is important in order to understand the current situation in this field and to develop more efficient guidance systems. Within the scope of this research, environmental graphics and wayfinding systems used in Baghdad and Istanbul Internatiomal Airports were comparatively examined and evaluated. The criteria and proficiency levels determined in the light of this study are intended to provide a stimulating, innovative and futuristic resource for researchers working in the field, airport authorities, designers and other stakeholders involved in the development of passenger-oriented airport environments.
