Abstract (EN)
This study aims to focus on the positive and negative effects of online competitive games on social, psychological, and cultural aspects worldwide. It will delve into how the culture of online competitive gaming shapes the cultures of global societies, drawing on Johan Huizinga's theory that defines games as culture builders. In addition to theoretical and academic research, the study will introduce new sociological concepts and provide ideas for the scientific evaluation and resolution of existing issues. It seeks to present innovative approaches, scientifically assess the current situation and problems, and develop solution proposals based on relevant issues. The thesis topic holds significant importance for the academic literature's recognition of the relatively new field of online gaming. Furthermore, it plays a crucial role in understanding the cultural adaptation process of the emerging profession of e- sports, uncovering the production of Islamophobia that rose in the 2000s through digital games, and identifying the psychological effects it causes in players. Additionally, the study aims to academically evaluate and introduce the 'Gamer Michael' as a future prediction. Within the scope of the research, the goal is to highlight the sociological, cultural, and emotional impacts of online competitive games.
