Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to determine the effects of recreational activities on the quality of life of employees working at the Düzce T-Type Closed Penal Institution. Compared with other public institutions, penal institutions are characterized by more challenging, exhausting, and restrictive working conditions. They maintain the highest level of technical and physical security measures, including precautions against potential sabotage, thick walls and foundations to prevent escapes, and perimeter fencing with barbed and razor wire. The research sample consisted of 222 employees from the Düzce T-Type Closed Penal Institution. Data collected from the participants were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Tukey's post hoc test and Pearson correlation analysis were conducted to examine the relationships among the variables, with a significance level set at p < 0.05. The findings revealed that younger and more highly educated employees were more likely to participate in recreational activities and reported higher levels of happiness, which in turn positively influenced their overall quality of life.
