Cicero's thoughts about the Republic

Rome as a civilization has generously contributed to the world's legacy in terms of politics and culture. Throughout centuries, Rome had reigned over the Mediterranean basin across continents and its contributions to the world politics and political culture still last. As well-known, Rome had sheltered many exceptional historians and political thinkers and even though some of their works had not seen our day –those who have, enable us to comprehend the past events and shed light to our future. Among those exceptional works, there are the works, letters and speeches written by Marcus Tullius Cicero (BC 106-43). What is exceptional about Cicero is his involvment in practical politics as senator as well as his emergence as a republican political thinker. This research aims to delve into Cicero's discourse on republic. In doing that, it will adapt a Ciceronian perspective to understand and explain the January 6 incident that took place in the United State after the 2020 elections.
