Psychological health screening and identification of effective stressors in farmer sample

In this study, it was aimed to perform psychological health screening in farmer sample, to obtain information about the factors affecting the psychological health status of farmers and to determine the stressors that affect the lives of farmers. The sample of the study consisted of 441 farmers. The data collection process was conducted face-to-face in Amasya, Edirne, Konya and Adana provinces and some data were collected through online questionnaires. Demographic Form, Semistructured Interview Form, Form of Stress Factors in Farmers, Brief Symptom Inventory, Stress Symptoms Scale and Research Diaries were used in the study. The data obtained were analyzed with SPSS 26.0 program and frequency analysis, independent sample t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient and one-way analysis of variance were used. According to the results obtained, economic and natural factors were found to be the most effective factors causing stress in farmers. The results of the analyses conducted according to various demographic characteristics such as gender, loss of children, use of personal protective equipment in agricultural spraying show that there are differences in stress, anxiety, depression and somatization levels according to these characteristics. The findings were discussed with the findings of the literature.
