Abstract (EN)
As it happens all over the world, in our country too, the industrial waste materials causeserious environmental problems that cannot be underestimated.The use of these wastes will both remove quite many environmental problems and derivebenefits for our national economy. Studies on the issue gained momentum especially with thebeginning of the 21st century.What has been aimed with this study is to use the waste materials -the fly ash from KütahyaSeyitömer thermal power plant, colemanite concentrator from Kütahya Emet Espey, blastfurnace slag from Karabük Iron & Steel factory- as cement additives to derive benefits. Whatis more, decreasing energy expenses which happen while producing cement and develop themechanical features of the cement are also targeted.First, the certain amounts of fly ash, Karabük slag and colemanite concentrator are added intothe cement clincer separately, and then different amounts of flyash -Karabük slag,colemanite concentrator-fly ash, colemanite concentrator-Karabük slag are added into thecement clincer in pairs.The most outstanding characteristics of this research is the use of iron slag and colemaniteconcentrator mixtures as cement additives, which can be found in big amounts as wastematerials and may cause environmental problems in our country, and the investigation of theeffects of these additives on the structural features of cement.As a result of this study it has been observed that fly ash and Karabük slag have contributed tothe cement?s mechanical features, have developed the resistance against sulphate medium,acid medium, however, when a certain amount was passed over the colemanite concentratorwastes did not contribute to the cement?s mechanical features in any way, and it even droppedthe level below Turkish Standards. On the other hand, it was also observed that even thoughcolemanite concentrator wastes had this negativeness it helped ASR, sulphate medium andacid medium, to increase the resistance level of the cement?s plaster. With the addition of thecolemanite concentrator wastes into the cement clincer solidification time and compressionresistance have been affected negatively. It is prescribed that when the solidificationaccelerators and the polymer fluids are added into the concrete with this additive,solidification time and the level of compression resistance can reach Turkish Standards.However, adding iron slag affected these specialities positively.It is also prescribed that in case of adding certain amounts of the additives into cement clincerwhich are mentioned above will help us derive benefits both in the economic and theenvironmental fieldsKey Words: fly ash, Karabük slag, colemanite concentrator waste, mechanical features,sulphate medium, acid medium, ASR, XRF, SEM
