Investigation of the relationship between sexual self schemas, guilty/shame and social appearance concerns and sexual satisfaction

Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to examine whether there is a relationship between sexual self-schemas, guilt, shame, social appearance anxiety and sexual satisfaction in the light of the data obtained. A questionnaire form was used to collect the data of the study. The questionnaire form was prepared on the online platform and communicated to the participants over various digital communication channels. The population of the research consists of individuals between the ages of 18-65, who are married or single and have a sexual partner/relationship. The sample of the study, on the other hand, consists of a total of 160 individuals, 80 women and 80 men, in order to have an equal distribution between men and women. Individuals to be included in the sample of the study were selected by convenience sampling method. SPSS 20 statistical program was used to analyze the data of the study. According to the findings, individuals' loving and caring sexual self-schemas, directness and frankness sexual self-concept, and provocative/sensual sexual self schema and sexual function problems were negatively correlated. In the study, a positive relationship was found between the shame attitudes of individuals and their social appearance anxiety. A negative relationship was found between individuals' guilt and sexual dysfunction. In addition, a negative relationship was found between individuals' shame attitudes and sexual dysfunctions. A positive relationship was found between social appearance anxiety and sexual dysfunctions In terms of socio-demographic variables of the participants, it was found that sexual functions, sexual self-schemas, feelings of guilt and shame, and social appearance anxiety scores showed significant differences.
