Abstract (EN)

In this study, some blood parameters in 2-4 age male and female cat fish (Silurus glanis Linnaeus, 1758) obtained from Çelik Lake (Gölbaşı-Adıyaman) between April 2011 and October 2011 were investigated at before (April), during (June and July) and after (October) of reproduction period. For this purpose after the fish were anesthetized, blood samples were obtained by cutting the caudal peduncle region of total of 22 male and female fish for each period (total of 66 fish for this study) that caught with Pinter nets. Sex, length, weight and age of fish were determined. In the blood samples, the changes of leukotocrit and hematocrit values, erythrocyte and leukocyte counts, hemoglobin concentration, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) were detected. All the blood values were statistically showed significant differences amongst before, during and after of reproduction period in both males and females. However, the blood parameters given above were found higher in male than female fish that have shed eggs and sperm.Key Words: Blood parameters, Reproduction period, Catfish
