Sex, job, age and level of education variables influence on individuals' stages of having superstitions

The presence of superstitions, which are very common in this age, is regarded as a taboo within the society and much discussed through various perspectives taking into account its interdisciplinary relations. The main purpose of this work is to examine the levels of belief in superstitions in such societies as are developed in the areas of science and technology based on the individuals? sexes, occupations, ages and educational backgrounds, and to reveal the relationship between them.The sampling of the research consists of a total of 210 participants who were reached via snowball sampling. The data collecting tools were delivered to the participants who were at least university graduates from various occupations. Throughout the research, the Demographic Information Form and the Superstitions Scale were applied to the participants.The data collected with the data collecting tools have been determined to comply with the factor analysis as a result of KMO test conducted. With the help of the Empirical Test of Barlett conducted afterwards, the relationships among the variables have been examined and the findings have been evaluated. The data have been analyzed in the statistical packet program SPSS 20 and, taking into account the error margin of 0.05, the statistical results obtained have been added to the work as tables.In accordance with the results obtained at the end of the research, it has been observed that there is a meaningful relationship between the individuals? levels of belief in superstitions and their sexes. In addition, it has been also observed that there are no meaningful relationships between their levels of belief in superstitions and their occupations, ages, and educational backgrounds.
