Cartoon and Myth relationship

IV ABSTRACT Mankind has always been in a forming process that has been progressing continuously and uninterraptedly since he took his place on the scene of the nature. We may see human language that forming modern human as one of the significant phenomenon of this progressing process. Human language appeared as a result of the 'abstraction' competence which had been developed by representing the events he met such as hunting scenes at the beginning of the fourth period in which human being took shelter in caves. Following this development, some phenomenon and major innovations that occurred throughout the centuries appeared. One of these innovations is 'cinema', which took its place in the history as the discovery of centuries. In this period, which is also called as pre-history, the man questioned the reason of his existence on instinct and he gave meaning to it. The struggle of this signification caused mythos, which is another important sign of the period. This phenomenon, which began to develop millions of years ago and has been impressed by many cultures, has inspired many other areas with its richness. Consequently, we may say that these two formations, cinema and myths, have had same shared origin. This work was prepared Anadolu University Social Sciences Institute Fine Art Faculty Animation Department as a master thesis. This study investigates myths as a source that may be used in production phases of cartoon films. Being able to perceive both the starting point of animation and its developing process is possible by investigating the formation of cinema art and the effects of this art. In this context, the historical development of cinema in animation films and its developing process including the use of mythos should be referred to. There have been parallel developments in both cinema and animation up to present. To understand the process of this kind, the history of cinema has been investigated and the information related to the subject has been informed in this study. The all phases of the production of a cartoon has, also, been researched carefully and the relationship between cinema and animation
