Abstract (EN)
This research aims to determine the innovations brought to the contemporary concept of music by Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, which are among the most important composers in 20. century, to bring out the musical components, ideas and impressionist tendencies via examples and to study the influences of all aspects above on Flute Music. In the introduction, the general characteristics of "impressionism" and "symbolism", and their relation to Debussy and Ravel are mentioned. In the First Part, biographies of Debussy and Ravel are presented and impressionist approaches are explained with examples from their several works. In the second part, composing process of ten chosen Solo, Chamber and Orchestral Music works including Flute from Debussy and Ravel are mentioned considering the importance in the repertoire. Formal and melodic observation and inspection of these works, and technical analysis of flute parts are included. In the conclusion, the musical language of Debussy and Ravel, as well as the findings of the analyzed works are summarized.
