An analysis of the relationship between politics and war in Clausewitz and Schmitt

Technological developments have caused radical changes in wars. Main purpose of this thesis is querying the validity of Clausewitz's arguments which states '' war is a continuation of policy by other means'' after these radical changes in wars by utilizing the Carl Schmitt's opinions. Within this scope, in the first part of the thesis, it is considered that conceptual examination of war and the place of war in philosophy. Following, it is discussed transformations of wars and ideas of Clausewitz about war. In the second part of the thesis, it is examined conceptual analysis of policy and politicized war relations at Schmitt. In the conclusion part, it is evaluated that the validity of Clausewitz by analyzing claims about there is no correlation between policy and war in these days.
