Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was determine the reliability and validity of Child Feeding Questionnaire-CFQ ?s for Turkish parents. This study is alsa to examine whether there is an important relationship between the feeding way (restriction, monitoring, pressure to eat etc.) of the families to their children and childhood obesity and food intake.Totally 490 parents, between the age of 25-75, 112 of whom is male (%22.9) and 378 of whom is female (%77.1) are participated in the study. After analysis, it has been observed that ?Child Feeding Questionnaire? consisted of 7 subscale and 31 items like original scale. These subscales were `Parent Perceived Weight?, `Perceived Child Weight?, `Parents Concerns About Child Weight?, `Perceived Responsibility?, `Monitoring?, `Restriction?, `Pressure to Eat?. Factor loadings were changed between 0.61-0.95. Consistency coefficient of total scale was 0.79. 7 determinated factors just explain %66, 96 of the CFQ. Factor loads are changeable between 0.61 and 0.95. For test-retest reliability of scale, CFQ is applied to 101 participants for 15 times. Test-retest reliability coefficients belonging to subscales of CFQ are changeable between 0,68 (Parents Concerns About Child Weight) and 0.93 (Monitoring). Test-retest reliability coefficients of the whole scale is 0.81. Findings show that CFQ- child feeding questionnaire- is a valid and reliable scale that can be used in Turkey. The second stage of the research is about to determine the impact of parent?s behaviors of feeding children, attitude and practice on obesity of childhood. As the BKI of the parents having sons and daughters increases, their behaviors of `Parent Perceived Weight?and `Restriction? also increase. This relationship determined in terms of the child feeding behavior ways is stronger in the parents having sons than the parents having daughter. Moreover, a positive correlation between the BKİ of parents having daughter and their behaviors about the `Parents Concerns About Child Weight? is fixed. While the BKI of children of parents having sons increases, `Perceived Child Weight? and `Restriction? increase, but the `Pressure to Eat? decreases. As the BKI of children of parents having daughter increases, `Parent Perceived Weight?, `Parents Concerns About Child Weight?and `Restriction? behaviors increase but the `Monitoring?decreases. In the parents having daughter, a positive relationship between `Restriction?and Restrained eating? is fixed. At the same time a positive relationship between `Parent Perceived Weight? and `Restrained eating? and `External eating? is also fixed. In the parents having sons, a negative meaningful relationship between `Perceived Child Weight?and `Restrained eating? a positive meaningful relationship between`Perceived Child Weight? and `Restriction? are fixed. Besides, a negative meaningful relationship between `Monitoring?child feeding behavior and `Emotional Eating? behavior is fixed
