Analysis of Dede Korkut Stories comicized in the scope of children's literature in terms of structure and educational values

Abstract (EN)

Literature is one of the genres that nourish children's soul. The child's application to literary genres in order to spend quality time and reading the works suitable for his age help him to develop. Body, spirit, mentally developing child will develop better in the way of self-recognition. In order to increase vocabulary, and to help active vocabulary capacity, a variety of genres are directed. In this respect, literature is one of the most useful sources for the child to know himself / herself better. School period is important as well as the pre-school education. The child gains a reading culture during this period. The courses taken in schools also contributes to the child's development and reading adventure through some materials. One of the materials used is comics. With the help of comics, reading can be more enjoyable for the child. As in other genres, in comic books the transfer of culture is also done through heroes, the child can learn about the traces of the past while reading a comic. Epics are one of the genres that best reflects the traces of the past. Dede Korkut stories, which are accepted as a transition period from epic to folk tales, are among the works that will play a role in the education of the child while telling the historical stories of Oghuz Turks. Thanks to it's cultural background, Dede Korkut Stories are important works that will play a role in the education of the child. In this study, Serdar Demircan's comic book "Dede Korkut" is examined in terms of its internal and external structure. This study includes 13 books that are examined by document analysis method . The characteristic of this study can be considered as descriptive. In this study, the history of comics, children's books according to age groups, the characteristics of children's books are included. According to the findings of the study, Dede Korkut Stories, which were converted to comic, were found to be appropriate to the level of secondary school students in terms of their general characteristics. Educational values were determined within the framework of the root values determined by the Ministry of National Education. The findings are given in percentage and frequency in the tables. The highest value was found in the story of "Kan Turalı" and the lowest value was found in the "Deli Dumrul" story.
