A study on advanture novels in children's literature

The human need of discovering, understanding-defining, turns out to be much complicated due to the reasons as age, gender and cultural background; and the world of imagination diversified with these actors, also influences the literature, which is also a human production. The childhood, defined by the classification of individual, develops a discipline, to analyze the child in himself to discover his needs. That also launches a new term in literature as the outstanding supporter of science. Starting with adaptation of books to the children, literature moves to a new phase of producing books directly targeting the children.The initial genre of books adapted to the children is the adventure novels. Adventure is a genre of innovations, discovery of new places, developing questions, excitement and ventures to meet the children needs.Adventure novels initially perceived to be weak for focusing solely on the adventure and the tension itself but as the articulation among genres began to increase, the interaction brought upon new adventure novels with original forms and deeper psychological analysis.The literary values of adventure novels, which are popular among children, have been subject to discussion for years. Some researchers claim that adventure novels placed in bestseller lists are artificial fictions composed of unreal characters, and therefore do not prove the needs of a the young readers. Some others, on the other hand suggest that successful adventure novels with adequate literary base have positive effects on reading habits of children of 10-12 age, function both as an entertainment medium and ease orientation to life in terms of problem solving.Consists of four main sections in the first part of the study focused on children and literature, concepts, and development has been referred to the definition of adventure novels. Study dealt with the problem by defining research objectives, importance and limitations are stated.Where the second part of the research method, data collection, analysis and interpretation took place viewed the explanation about the way the survey and sampling of the universe has been revealed.In this study, Aytül AKAL?s four-book serial `Süper Gazeteciler?, Mavisel YENER?s four-book serial `Dolunay Dedektifleri? and Fatih ERDOĞAN?s two-book serial `Mavibulut Macera?, as the examples of children?s literature, have been analyzed for meeting the appropriate criteria. Serials of minimum two books are chosen and adventure-criminal genre is preferred.Hero of the speech and behavior by friendship, solidarity, child-adult relationships, critical thinking importance of such issues as the emphasis in the books fiction by events exciting elements and hints improved, the negative behaviors of people in the community respect their losing punished of attention.
