Review of the Çocuk Haftası in terms of children's literature

The sources used in child education are of great importance in terms of quality and quantity. The source used for a specific purpose needs to be appropriate to the desired target and the characteristics of the addressed population. Otherwise, the source prepared in order to transfer some properties and values to the addressed population might fail in this or cause some undesired consequences. This is why it is important to review and reveal the characteristics of the sources used in children's literature. According to the study in the field of children's literature, it has been detected that the child magazine Çocuk Haftası which started publication after the foundation of the Republic of Turkey has not been reviewed. In the study of Review of the Çocuk Haftası in terms of Children's Literature, 375 issues of Çocuk Haftası which were published in the years between 1942 and 1950 have been reviewed. Çocuk Haftası is a childrens magazine which published 374 issues in 1943-1950 and 318 issues in 1958-1964. The first issue of the magazine was published in October, 30 1942 however, from that date until January, 2 1943 it was not published again. In the study of Review of the Çocuk Haftası in terms of Children's Literature, the only issue of Çocuk Haftası which was published in October, 30 1943 and 374 issues which were published in the years between 1943 and 1950 have been reviewed. This review has been made with the method of revision of the documents. An index has been created according to the names of the authors in the magazine and the works have been classified according to their literary genre. The works of the magazine have been reviewed in terms of the criteria that have to be found in the works of children's literature. Consequently, it has been revealed that there are some works in Çocuk Haftası which are not appropriate to the characteristics of children's literature.
