Özet (EN)

Behavior management is very important and necessary before and during the dental treatment process in order to avoid dental anxiety in children. Because the injection is still the most anxiety provoking procedure not only for children but also for adults, local anesthesia is accepted as the most difficult part of a child's dental treatment. There are several methods to decrease the pain during the injection and new injection devices were developed for his purpose. Quicksleeper is one of these new computer controlled anesthesia devices. The aim of this study was to evaluate the anxiety levels and pain perceptions of children before, during and after two different local anesthesia methods. The infiltrative anesthesia was applied with a conventional dental injector and the intraooseoz anesthesia was applied with a computer-controlled dental anesthesia device, Quicksleeper S4. In the present study, 100 children aged between 9 and 15, were included. The patients were divided into two groups and both anesthesia methods were used in all children. A treatment plan, which is composed of 3 sessions, was prepared for the patients. In the first session topical fluoride gel was applied to all children. In the second and third sessions dental treatment was done after dental injection. The anxiety levels and pain perceptions were evaluated by using VAS, FIS and CFSS-DS in every session. SPSS 24.0 package software was used in statistical analysis of datas. The results of the present study showed that anxiety levels are decreasing after sessions are progressing. However Quicksleeper had no effect on this result because nearly all the children reported more pain with Quicksleeper. The infiltrative anesthesia and conventional dental injector is still the most acceptable method for children.
