Heroses in children's stories of the situations role models to children

Child literature, especially in the last thirty years has shown an important development, hence, Turkish and world literature's well known authors and poets did a lot of works addressed to the children. In this study, the situations in which twelve storybook heroes in Turkish literature could be role models to children were evaluated. The evaluation was done within the themes found in the 5th,6th,7th and 8th grade education programs. In the study child literature's characteristics, a tale and a tale in child literature, a hero in child literature, character and style, were among the chosen topics. The information about the authors and the books to be evaluated was given. The themes present in Turkish education program and their relation with being a role model together with the findings were noted. After a general evaluation was done, the results and suggestions were proposed. Key Words: Child Literature, Themes, Hero, Being A Hero, Story Books
