Abstract (EN)

In this study, which was designed to understand the secondary trauma measurements of physicians exposed to child sexual abuse cases and to investigate the effects of these experiences on the emotional processes of physicians, a quantitative method research was conducted and a questionnaire data collection tool was used. In this context, the study was conducted on 250 physicians who were included in the study by purposive sampling method. The results show that there is no statistically significant relationship between demographic variables such as gender, age and professional experience and secondary traumatic stress exposure. It was statistically significant that faulty cognitions that emerged after the trauma positively affected the level of secondary traumatic stress, in the same way, it was determined that the secondary traumatic stress levels of people with faulty cognitions such as negative cognitions about oneself, negative cognitions about the world and self-blame that may emerge after trauma differed significantly. Secondary traumatic stress was found to positively affect the level of depression and there was a strong relationship between them. Finally, past trauma burden was found to be a statistically significant but negative predictor of secondary traumatic stress level.
