Types of listening featured by the protagonists in children's books

The study was carried out to determine the types of listening that are brought to the forefront through the protagonists in children's books. The research was carried out with document analysis pattern. In order to determine the books to be examined in the study, the names of 3 books that are read fondly by secondary school students at different grade levels studying in different regions and different cities were taken. In this way, the 20 most preferred books were determined and examined in line with the purpose of the study. The findings obtained as a result of the examinations were interpreted and the listening types exhibited by the protagonists were determined. The determined listening types were first created under two headings as effective listening types and ineffective listening types. These two titles are also divided into sub-titles. As a result of the examinations, 9 effective listening types and 8 ineffective listening types were determined. In the continuation of all these, it has been concluded that effective listening types are more prominent than ineffective listening types. It has been stated that exhibiting ineffective listening styles will pose a problem for students as it prevents them from fully understanding what is being said and establishing a healthy communication.
