Abstract (EN)

There are many elements that need to be considered in the design, due to the fact that users from different age groups are together in pediatric hospitals. A large part of the treatment process of patients, especially with cancer, is spent in the hospital. The all process is much more memorable and stressful for children. Anxiety and fears increase due to the discomfort of being in a foreign place. The design of the spaces they are in has the effect of reducing these worries and fears. The aim of this study is to examine the waiting and playground areas in pediatric oncology hospitals and to identify the problems. In this direction, the needs and spatial requirements of the users have been tried to be determined. In the study carried out in the outpatient waiting areas of Bursa Sabahattin Gazioğlu Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Hospital, evaluation was made through observation and questionnaire. Questionnaires about waiting and playground areas were applied to patient relatives and hospital staff. In line with the results obtained from both observations and surveys, problems were identified and solutions were offered for these problems.
