Plasma and urine total nitrite levels in acute attack of asthmatic children

NO is an important molecule to change inflammatory enviroment. It is an important molecule that has a regulator and oriented role. The serum half time of NO is short so that it rapidly converts into its metobolites. In our study patients with chronic inflammatory airway disease are observed in attack and nonsymptomatic period. Their plasma and urine nitrite levels are determined. We try to find out relationship between asthma and plasma NO, urine NO levels.Blood and ürine specimens from 28 patients are collected from patients who is at attack. Attack severity, asthma control level, skinprick test, serum IgE levels are determined. The risk factors that can be responsible for attacks, indoor risk factors, family atopic disease history, other atopy histories are interrogated. Blood and ürine specimen were collected one month later from same patients. 20 children for control group are collected from pediatric department who don?t have a chronic disease.In study group plasma and ürine total nitrite levels from patients who are in attack are found significant than the levels at nonsymptomatic period of the same patients (both p<0.001). In study group plasma and ürine total nitrite levels from patients in attack are found significantly lower than control group (p<0.001). Plasma and ürine total nitrite levels are significantly lower than control group at nonsymptomatic period of one month?s later after at attack tack (Both p=0.001)Exhaler NO?s found as a result of iNOS activity at acute asthma and it?s known that this reflects the inflammation. In acute asthma attack the significant descent of plasma and ürine nitric oxide levels are related to decrease in nNOS activity due to alveoler hypoxia that?s caused by eNOS and inflammation
