Abstract (EN)

Obesity, which is placed with the most commonly diagnosis BMI , is a disease of excess body fat increased. İncreasing with the increase of the fat stores, adipocyte activity causes more metabolic and cardiovascular complications. Childhood obesity is associated with long-term morbidity, decrease in quality of life and premature death. The aim of the this study, in children, according to body mass index, is to examine the relationships between some antropometric measurement, body composition and blood parameters. İn this research, in Başakşehir State Hospital Nutrition and Diet Unit, 10-15 ages 67 child's height and body weight , total fat percentage, fat mass, lean mass and total body water weight, arms , legs and body fat percentage, fat mass , fat free mass with BIA method; fasting blood glucose , total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol and triglycerides , AST, ALT , TSH, Free T4 and complete blood count were measured. According to BMI z-score classification in children fat percentage , normal weight ( BMI z score < 1SD ) 18.7 % , overweight ( BMI z score ≥ 1SD - <2 SD) of 27.3% , obese ( BMI z score ≥ 2SD - < 3SD ) 33.8 % extremely obese ( BMI Z-score ≥3 SD) 37.7 % respectively. The relationship between body fat and the percentage of obese girls were not significant (p = 0.01) Blood glucose and total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides (TG) was increased and HDL cholesterol value was decreased in obesity. İmpaired glucose tolerance in non-obese children ( IGT ) ( FPG > 100 mg / dL) , TG > 150 mg / dL , HDL <40 mg / dL rates were 11.7 % , 5.8 %, and 0% in obese children in these rates 24% 26% and 6%. One in every four obese and one in every three morbid obese has IGT. Consequently, the increase of childhood obesity and studies on childhood obesity are needed to prevent a high priority.
