Abstract (EN)

TheEffect Of Pullıng Attentıon To Another Dırectıon Durıng Paın Collectıon In Chıldren On Paın And Anxıety This study in vestigated the impact of distraction method on reducing pain and anxiety that 7-12 year-old children experience during blood-letting procedure. The randomized controlled studyin cluded 246 child renaged 7 to 12 years (125 male, 121 female; meanage 9,41±1,71 years), who gave blood samples in Antalya Manavgat Public Hospital Pediatric Blood-Letting Unit between 18.01.2019-28.03.2019. The children were separated in to two groups: 123 children in the distraction group (60 male, 63 female; meanage 9,39±1,70 years) and 123 children in the control group (65 male, 58 female; meanage 9,43±1,73 years). The data were collectedvia the Patient Introduction Form and Patient Follow-up Form before, duringand after the blood letting procedure. Pain and anxiety levels of the patients were evaluatedusing the Revised Face Pain Scale (FPS-R)– Painand Child's Fear Scale (CFS), respectively. It was found that pain and anxiety levels were lower in the distraction group (FPS-R=1,65±1,33; CFS=1,73±1,07), compared to the control group (FPS-R=3,09±1,57; CFS=2,86±1,07). There was a signifi cant difference in the decrease of both pain and anxiety levels in the distraction group (p=0,000 and p=0,000, respectively). Our study results demonstrate that distraction technique reduce spainand anxiety in 7-12 year-old children during blood-letting procedure. Thus were commend the utilization of distraction technique in 7-12 year-old children during blood-letting procedure. Keywords: Child, pain, anxiety, invasiveapplication, distraction
